Before the global pandemic, some restaurants began experimenting with robot servers and this technology is taking on new significance as businesses reopen and adjust the way they operate to minimize contact between guests and staff. Dadawan is an Asian restaurant in the Dutch city of Maastricht and it now has Amy, Aker and James on its staff, all robots that are capable of handling the serving of food and drinks.

The robots are in place to help reduce the number of trips human staff members need to make, as the robots are useful for making runs directly to and from the kitchen, which takes no time at all. The humanoid robots have arms to hold serving trays, as well as animated faces to present simple emotions.
