Based on the vision of consolidating the position of the Emirate of Dubai as a global center for culture, an incubator for creativity and a forum for talents, the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority works within a methodology aimed at strengthening the cultural scene in the emirate, promoting cultural and creative industries, supporting creators and providing an incubating environment for them.

Accordingly, the authority launched the Al Marmoom competition for making short films, which comes within the second edition of the Al Marmoom Film Festival, Film in the Desert 2022, which is scheduled to be organized next December.

This competition aims to attract talented short films and provide an innovative platform for them to hone and develop their skills, and present their creativity to a global audience to enhance the position of Al Marmoom as a cultural and tourist destination. The festival announced that participation is open to all interested Emiratis aged 15 years and over, including Emiratis, residents, Middle Eastern countries and the Arab world, and they will send their participation through a link to the competition before September 23.

The works will be evaluated and the winning films will be selected by a jury comprising prominent experts in the field of films, and the first place winner will receive a prize of 50 thousand dirhams. Participants will compete by submitting short films not exceeding 30 minutes, and the participant must own all rights related to the film and not have previously been shown, and films will be from one of the following categories: live action, animation and documentary
