Border restrictions between the US and Canada are likely to be extended beyond the proposed October 21 opening date, as Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau expresses concerns about coronavirus outbreaks outside its borders.
 
No official extension has been confirmed yet but if it is agreed, it will be the seventh extension added to the travel ban since it was introduced in March. 
But with cross-border travel permitted for those working in essential services and trade, as well as returning citizens.
