After a decade of building his fashion label around Lebanese craft and mountain heritage, designer Salim Azzam has transformed his childhood home in Bater, Chouf, into Dar Salim Azzam, a new creative atelier celebrating local craftsmanship and community.

Opened in August 2026 to mark the brand’s 10th anniversary, the atelier brings together Azzam’s personal memories, family history and the traditional skills that have shaped his work since he launched the label in 2016.

Located in his childhood home, the space now serves as a workshop, archive and gathering place for the community of more than 70 artisans, many of them women from villages across the Chouf. Their embroidery, crochet and beadwork continue to inspire Azzam’s collections, which often feature motifs drawn from Lebanon’s landscapes, animals, trees and everyday life.

The transformation of the house was developed with architect Sandra Antoun over a year and a half, carefully preserving elements of the family home while giving its rooms a new creative purpose. Family photographs, original details and childhood objects remain alongside workshops, displays and archival pieces.

Dar Salim Azzam also marks the launch of a new home collection, available exclusively at the atelier, featuring embroidered textiles, crochet lampshades, pillows and tablecloths.

More than a new studio, the space represents Azzam’s return to where his story began — turning a childhood home in the Lebanese mountains into a place where traditional craft can continue to evolve and remain part of contemporary design.
