The Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) is set to return from November 4 to 15, 2026, transforming Expo Centre Sharjah into a global meeting point for literature, culture and creativity. Spanning 12 days, the annual event will welcome readers, authors, publishers, translators and cultural figures from around the world through an extensive programme of talks, workshops and literary events.
This year's edition will shine a spotlight on the Sultanate of Oman, which has been named the Guest of Honour. Through a curated cultural programme, Oman will showcase its rich literary and artistic heritage, introducing visitors to its celebrated writers, poets, thinkers and artists. The programme will include exhibitions, cultural performances and discussions that highlight the country's longstanding contribution to Arab culture.
Recognised as one of the largest book fairs in the Middle East, SIBF will once again feature an impressive schedule of author talks, book signings, poetry evenings, creative workshops and interactive activities for children and young adults. The event aims to inspire readers of all ages while encouraging cultural exchange through literature.
Beyond its public programme, the fair remains an important international platform for the publishing industry. Dedicated professional events will bring together publishers, translators, librarians and rights specialists to discuss emerging trends, strengthen partnerships and explore new opportunities in translation, publishing and the global book market.
Commenting on the upcoming edition, Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, Chairwoman of the Sharjah Book Authority, said the fair continues to reinforce the emirate's commitment to books and reading. She emphasized that every edition strengthens the connection between people and literature while creating new opportunities for Arabic books and ideas to reach international audiences.
Meanwhile, Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, Chief Executive of the Sharjah Book Authority, highlighted the fair's growing international profile, noting that it continues to expand its global network through strategic partnerships and cultural initiatives.
The announcement follows a series of international milestones for Sharjah's cultural sector. Earlier this year, the emirate became the first Arab Guest of Honour at the Warsaw International Book Fair, presenting a four-day programme celebrating Arab literature and culture. At the Beijing International Book Fair, where the UAE was Guest of Honour, the Sharjah Institute for Heritage introduced more than ten Chinese-language publications, further strengthening cultural dialogue between the Arab world and Asia.
With Oman taking centre stage and a programme that celebrates literature, creativity and cross-cultural exchange, the Sharjah International Book Fair 2026 promises another memorable edition, reaffirming Sharjah's position as one of the Arab world's leading cultural capitals.
