Explore peace, spirituality, and identity through typography at Tashkeel Dubai

The SALAM exhibition at Tashkeel, Dubai, offers a captivating journey into the world of contemporary Arabic calligraphy and typography. Curated by Ibrahim Zaki, the show brings together a diverse group of artists who reinterpret the visual language of Arabic letters, creating works that explore peace, spirituality, and contemplation.

Running until 13 April 2026, SALAM features talented contributors such as Sami ElDabae, Ehab ElHamzawy, Abdelrahman Shaheen, Toka Assal, Ahmad Mansour, Wael Morcos, Mahmoud Abdelghany, Ahmad Mattar, Waleed Abo Douh, Mardy Elzaawely, Ahmad Zahra, Wissam Shawkat, Mohamed Abdelaziz, Ali Aziz, Muharram Hassan, Anas Alaa, Salma Hesham, Basheer Asalieh, and Ibrahim Zaki.

Among the highlights is Wael Morcos, the Beirut-born, Brooklyn-based designer, whose work bridges Arabic calligraphy with contemporary digital design, blending identity, storytelling, and cultural narratives. Ali Aziz Anwar Hassanein, Art Director and calligrapher with the Ajman Government Media Office, merges institutional design with artistic exploration, presenting Arabic letters as living cultural expressions. Representing the younger generation, Abdelrahman Shaheen experiments with typography and graphic design, using letters as a tool for visual storytelling.

Set in Tashkeel’s Nad Al Sheba 1 gallery, the exhibition space is minimal, light-filled, and contemplative, allowing each piece to command attention while inviting visitors to follow the rhythm of the letterforms. For a complete SALAM experience, visitors can enjoy the Salam Cake at Gerbou, featuring regional flavors reimagined in a contemporary dessert form.
