Zuhair Murad's primary inspiration was the late Soviet ballerina, Maya Mikhalovna Plesetskaya. So translate the lightness of the dancers into wavy scales of traditional lace or macrame on delicately designed black or white silhouettes. The ethereal, tassel dresses blend the lightness of chiffon silk with the construction of tulle or taffeta and the drama of the sequins applied. The shoulders of the 80s were striped, as were the bouffant sleeves decorated with ruffles, feathers, and lace appliques. In some of the looks, the designer made sure to recreate the classic dance costumes; For example, by elaborate corsets on a short tiered dress, or by black plumite and multiple layers of tulle on a tight fit dress with a cut skirt.
