The Lebanese American University, in collaboration with ArtScoops, is proud to present the first online art auction titled LAU ArtsRising, which has been organized to help students whose education is at risk, the auction started on Thursday, February 18th, and is running until March 1, 2021.

This auction houses a wide range of artworks by many prominent Lebanese and international artists, from thought-provoking portraits and abstracts to sculptures, where each of the pieces curated embraces Henri Matisse’s mantra that “creativity takes courage.”

All proceeds will go to fund current and prospective students who risk losing their education due to the financial distress caused by the country's economic crisis and exacerbated by the epidemic and the devastating explosion at Beirut Port on August 4, 2020.

The 12-day auction will also include generous artwork from the famous Lebanese painter and former Assistant Professor of Fine Arts at the Lebanese American University Shawky Chamoun, Head of the Department of Art and Design Hannibal Srouji, in addition to Elie Saab, Raouf Al-Rifai, Mona Hatoum, Rana Rawda, Zina Baraka, Bassam Jeitani, Lydia Moawad, and others...

From the Modern Arabesque team, we would like to express our gratitude to the artists, galleries, and donors for their support in holding this auction, and we will keep updated on all developments.
