Art in isolation: Creativity in the time of Covid-19, from October 8, 2020, to January 29, 2021, pays tribute to the experiences and reflections of artists from the Middle East and its diaspora during the global crisis. MEI Art Gallery's first-ever open invitation, Art in Isolation, invited regional artists to submit artworks created at the height of the global pandemic on the theme of shelter in place. The result is a rich treatment of the works of 39 emergings, mid-career artists and illustrators who investigate the emotional and physical impact of confinement on artistic practice.
Palestinian art is travelling far beyond the places where it was created. From Ramallah to Dubai, and onward to collectors across Europe, the United States and beyond, a new generation of Palestinian artists is finding an increasingly international audience — while continuing to negotiate questions of memory, identity, displacement and belonging.
