The Mayor of Strasbourg, Jean Parsigian, announced the decision to abandon the organization of the famous Christmas market in the city due to the crisis caused by the outbreak of the Corona virus epidemic, while dispensing with the estimated stalls of about 300, but with retaining some activities.
A large Christmas tree will be erected in Place Klébert in the city center in the French east, with "events" and "artist parades," according to the mayor.
These 450-year-old events, which were canceled only in times of war, attract nearly two million visitors in normal circumstances, with an estimated financial return of around 250 million euros.
