The proposed travel bubble arrangement between New Zealand and Australia is partially underway, with New Zealanders permitted to travel to Australia from today under a one-way system.
There were tearful scenes in Sydney's Kingsford Smith Airport as the first flight from New Zealand landed this morning, reuniting families and friends for the first time since borders were sealed in March. Welcome banners, balloons, cameras, cheers and embraces greeted the first arrivals from Auckland as they walked through the international terminal, with New South Wales tourism minister, Stuart Ayres, referring to it as "an emotional day, like living in a scene from the movie Love Actually."
