Project Loon was created to provide a relief internet connection to people experiencing trouble. The Internet can be provided to disaster zones through balloons located 20km in the stratosphere. Project Loon can now operate in all of AT&T’s 200 roaming partners around the world.

However, for Project Loon to be deployed, the organization will need government approval and then install the necessary infrastructure. Alphabet has also entered into 50 agreements to fly over countries, ahead of the upcoming hurricane season. Additionally, infrastructure is already being created in the Caribbean, to create quick response capabilities.

Overall expanding Project Loon will ensure that countries that experience natural disasters will have internet capabilities during a crisis.
