Art Dubai kicked off its 2022 edition on March 11 with The Gateway, which provides a pathway into the creative processes of some of the most innovative artists in the Global South.
 
Curator Nancy Adagania selects artists who test “universal molds of contemporary art”
Among the content creators are Mexican Rodrigo Hernandez's "Night Round", Nigerian Tonia Nnegi's paintings, and Indian video installation Ranbir Kalika.
Adajania also discussed how the art scene in the Middle East has shown a remarkable development over the years.
 
"Dubai has made huge efforts to involve communities in cultural events such as Art Dubai and Expo 2020, and initiatives such as the Jameel Arts Center and the Museum of the Future," she said. “I think the platform is well formed and will only get stronger and expand more as we go.”
