Late Tuesday, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced the availability of purchasing Tesla electric cars in the US using the Bitcoin digital currency.

The leading automaker revealed last month that it had bought Bitcoin worth $ 1.5 billion, and that it would soon begin accepting the world's most popular cryptocurrency as a payment mechanism for its cars, according to the US CNBC site.

As for consumers outside the United States, Musk said that they will be able to buy Tesla cars, using the digital currency at some time this year, without specifying which countries will be allowed to do so.

Musk noted that Tesla directly operates the Bitcoin contract. A contract is a computer on the Bitcoin network that checks transactions and avoids spending the cryptocurrency twice.

It should be noted that Musk lost tens of billions of dollars earlier this month, yet he managed to regain almost everything he lost in one day, after Tesla's stock rose by 20 percent.
